Sowing time of acid lime:
The sowing of seed generally
undertaken in early October after the rainy season is over. Through, the fruits
are full of juice during this time; the seeds get shrivelled especially in
mature fruits. Such a shrivelled seeds often loss the viability and vitality.
Under such circumstances comparatively less quantity of sound seeds are
available from such fruits. On the other hand good qualities of seeds are extracted
in June from mature fruits which are free from shrivelled seeds. Germination of
such seeds is high, however seedling stand is poor due to disease during rainy
season hence, cause reduction in planting material. In order to overcome this
problem, it would be advantageous to extract the seeds from just mature fruits
in June and sown after the rainy season is over. This involves the storing of
seeds for longer period. Seeds remain viable for short period and germination
is lost (Kumar and Mazumdar, 1973). The research on storing of citrus seeds up
to 90 days at 4°C to 7°C temperature were remained viable and could obtained
satisfactory germination (Mallreddy and Sharma, 1983). - Seeds were treated with
NAA @40 ppm by soaking overnight and allowed to dry for 15 minutes in shade and
then sowing was done on raised bed of 2 m x 1 m plots. After one month of
germination, spraying of same concentration was given. All the treated seeds
were nourished uniformly by providing the similar cultural practices such as
fertilization, irrigation, weeding and plant protection measures during the
entire period of studies.
Irrigation:
Water is most important at three
stages:
Initial growth stage
At flowering and fruit setting
At post-harvest storage
Fertilizer:
Three stages of fertilizer are
applied are following
December-January
June-July
September-October

Improvement in yield:
Foliar application of GA3 at
10ppm and NAA at 10 ppm on lemon before full bloom, at full bloom stage and again 14 days later
results in very high yield.
Harvesting:
Plants start bearing at the stage
of one and half year. But at the age of 7th year old best economical
crop can obtained.
Months of harvesting:
May-September
June-September
December-January.
