How to prepared Organic Fertilizers, Farm Yard manure, Vermicomposting,
Poultry manure, Oil cake

Farm Yard Manure:

Dung obtained from domestic animals like cows, buffaloes, sheep, goats horse and other animals along with urine, bedding material, crop residues are collected daily and placed in trench or pit.

The size of pit should be 6-7m x 1.5-2 m x 1m. The pit should be provided with a shed to protect the manure from rain and hot sun especially in summer and moon soon season. The manure materials should be added to the pit until the height of the added material is 40-50 cm from the ground. Then the upper portion of the stack should be coated with mixture of mud and cattle dung.

 

Heap Method:

Collected material placed in heap in high land until the height of heap reached about 1m above to the ground level. The FYM will be ready in 3-6 month.

Vermicomposting:

Collect the biodegradable waste including vegetable waste, crop residues, weeds, agro industry waste, dry leaves of crops, sugarcane trash, animal manure, dairy and poultry waste. Digest the material same heap method as like FYM. Select a cool and moist place. The predigested organic material along with animal dung place in the container (tank, earthen bowl), then suitable species of earthworms (more than 2000 species in the world, Eisenia fetida, Eisenia Andrei,Lumbricus rubellus) released in the container. The container should be covered with thick cloth and jute bag to maintain a dark environment. After collection the compost should be sieved to separate fully compost material. The partially compost material earth worms, their eggs or coccon should be placed again in the container future compost preparation.

Poultry manure:

Collect the fresh poultry manure for pile composting. To avoid the nutrient loss cover with the plastic sheet. Due to low C: N add rice husk or straw. It will be prepared in 8-10 weeks.

Anaerobic condition:

Fresh poultry manure with rice husk is placed in the pit, sufficient water is added to maintain moisture, the pit is covered with mud plaster.

Crop residue:

Agriculture crop residues, leaves, stem and roots directly plowed in the land.

Oil cake:

Oil cakes are byproducts of oilseed crops ( mustard, sesame, linseed) after the oil has been extracted from oilseed. Oil seed cake provide easy quickely nutrient release.
